Examples of a blood pressure lowering diet

Lower blood pressure

I have changed my eating habits after beeing diagnosed with hypertension. It hasn´t been easy, and sometimes I have failed staying strict with this diet. But you just need to get back on track again 🙂

So, some examples of my diet:
  • For breakfast I eat low fat plain yogurt or kefir with sunflower seeds or pumpkin seeds, chia seeds, almonds, flax seeds, and sometimes berries. One small cup of coffee and a glass of beetroot juice. And sometimes one egg.
  • Lunch: Lots of vegetables and protein in form of fish or egg (occasionally meat).
  • Dinner: Same as lunch, but different kinds of vegetables and protein.
I eat fruits also. I have minimized salt and sugar as much as I can, and I eat less carbohydrates. I cook everything with no salt, I use other spices and herbs instead. And I drink plenty of water.
Or in a few words, eat:
  • Lots of vegetables, fruit & berries
  • Whole grain
  • Low fat non sweetened dairy
  • Drink plenty of water.
